So.. Yah, About that.

Food for thought.

History is Repeating Itself While We Look Powerless To Stop It
By admin on Nov 13, 2008 in Blogging, Politics, Social Media

Friends,

Will you please take the time to read this, and if you think it worthwhile, pass it along to your email list, and ask them to read it? Even if they voted, with all good intentions, for Mr. Obama?
I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it.
Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. (news link)
That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?
We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving.
Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman.
Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska.
All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)
Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.
Why?
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.
This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning.
And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises.
Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot.
And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.
He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.
(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)
Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.
Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.
Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.
I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.
Best regards
A Concerned American Citizen

VOTE!

Today is it. Tuesday, November 4 2008. Election Day.

As you head off to the polls throughout the day think about what Abe Lincoln is credited with saying:

* You cannot help the poor, by destroying the rich.
* You cannot strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong.
* You cannot bring about prosperity, by discouraging thrift.
* You cannot lift the wage earner up, by pulling the wage payer down.
* You cannot further the brotherhood of man, by inciting class hatred.
* You cannot build character and courage, by taking away men's initiativeand independence.
* You cannot help men permanently, by doing for them what they could andshould, do for
themselves."

Also, don't forget about the tens of thousands of military personnel overseas who are fighting for us. Remember them everyday, but especially today.

an update to my last post.

Read, I repeat, read don't watch The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon. It may remind you, surprise you what you may learn.

Also, while you're looking stuff up, check out a man named Antonio Gramsci - he was an Italian Marxist who came up with the whole seizing control of independent companies and making them government owned/operated companies. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are two of the largest and, of course, shining examples of the types of companies. Why did he come up with this idea? They (the Marxist's) were trying to figure out how to take their cause and be successful in the West. This was it ladies and gentlemen, this was his brainstorm, this was his idea, and look what is happening today. Karl Marx's ideas are idealistic and impossible - have any of them succeeded?

being politically active in a crazy season.

I hate politics. Hate it. Ask almost anyone who knows me, I would rather stick a fork in my eye than spend more than the 15 seconds it takes me tell you I don't like politics discussing it. I sincerely feel like it is one of the most divisive issues in life. However, like a lot of people turned off by politicians and their "representatives" I feel like this election is important. We have a lot of issues facing us as a country and not a lot of answers(or ideas, for that matter) coming our way. The most important is the economy. Our economy is in the tank(as I predicted and many others did with the 700 billion dollar "bailout" POS* that was passed by our wonderful congress and signed by our fantastic president...). And nearly half of the country - 47% to be exact - feel that Congress has more power over the economy than the President or the Fed Chairman. Personally, I feel that congress has more power over most everything than the President, but that's just my opinion.

Speaking of congress, they have a 18% approval rating, while 51% of those polled thinks they are doing a "poor" job. Well, to that I say one thing - DUH! They've done nothing significant except for cause trouble with things they shouldn't be involved in. Steriods in Major League Baseball? Seriously, that was such a pressing issue that they spent months in hearings over it. Really?

But, back to the economy. Go to www.barackobama.com and check out the Obama-Biden Tax Calculator on the front page. Fill out the information asked(which is generic i.e. what's your annual salary, do you have college expenses, etc) and calculate. I, at the bottom of the barrel, receive a whopping $500 extra - why? Because I'm single. Add a child to the mix(now I'm a single parent!) and I still receive $500. Please explain. In fact, I have to have at least 3 children to change my "tax refund" beyond $500! At that point it moves to $1120. That's really helping the kids Barack. And, because I am soo cool, I also spent some time on the website today checking it out. My favorite feature? "Login to myBO". Really. It's on the front page. Look at it. No one working for him apparently caught it. BO... Body Odor. I should work for those retards. I would've at least noticed that. Good Lord on High! Anyway, I will let you check the rest of it out - it's important.

On to www.JohnMcCain.com. Once reaching the home page click on "The McCain Plan for Tax Relief" and check it out. You won't get a nifty little widget(which is what is on BO's website..) to calculate your "personal" tax relief, but you will actually get to listen to Doug Holtz-Eakin(McCain's senior policy advisor) answer pre-written questions that are commonly asked by nosy people like me. :-) And you can also compare both McCain's and BO's tax plans. So go listen to it, check it out, and be an informed voter.

In all openness, I am voting for McCain. Why? Because Obama can't seem to reach beyond his words and show action. Because for more than half of his US Senate term he has been campaigning for a higher office - the Presidency - rather than working on fixing the problems we face with his fellow elected officials. Because we need someone who is willing to fight the right fight and not say one thing and do another - or better yet, do something and change it because he came under too much fire for deciding the way he did. We need a man in the office of the Presidency, not a boy. And because Barack Obama's running mate - Joe Biden - has no faith in his own running mate. Just look at his words, listen to them. Joe Biden is speaking out of his ass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlnUzsgqGQw

So, check everything out - their websites, other websites, and read, listen, and soak in everything you can possibly imagine in the next 8 days and go out and vote - call your local election board to find out where your voter precinct is and do it - VOTE!

*POS = Piece Of Shit. That's as nice as I get, too.

Crazy.

No matter what your political views and beliefs are this should not happen in the United States of America - ever.

Ignore all the words, just watch the actions of the people. That says it all to me.

Just because. PS - register to vote.

Well, all three senators involved in the presidential election voted "yea" for the bailout bill. They're apparently not in touch with me - or most people I run into. I'd like to take a moment to thank the following senators for voting against the bill:
Sen. Allard (R-CO)
Sen. Brownback (R-KS)
Sen. Bunning (R-KY)
Sen. Cantwell (D-WA)
Sen. Cochran (R-MS)
Sen. Crapo (R-ID)
Sen. DeMint (R-SC)
Sen. Dole (R-NC)
Sen. Dorgan (D-ND)
Sen. Enzi (R-WY)
Sen. Feingold (D-WI)
Sen. Inhofe (R-OK)
Sen. Johnson (D-SD)
Sen. Landrieu (D-LA)
Sen. Nelson (D-FL)
Sen. Roberts (R-KS)
Sen. Sanders (I-VT)
Sen. Sessions (R-AL)
Sen. Shelby (R-AL)
Sen. Stabenow (D-MI)
Sen. Tester (D-MT)
Sen. Vitter (R-LA)
Sen. Wicker (R-MS)
Sen. Wyden (D-OR)

Maybe they too feel that the we should not rush to save these failed millionaires (who, by the way, are still millionaires and shouldn't be) and should maybe spend more important time and resources on teaching our children how to read, write and add.

Did you register to vote yet? Tomorrow is your last day to register. Do it now - right now -on the internet. Go here and follow the instructions - or don't bitch: https://ssl.congress.org/congressorg/e4/nvra/ It's very easy - I ran through it myself to check it out - so you don't have an excuse.

I also found a very interesting article and expect to see a mass exodus to some of the following cities very soon:
http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/going-solo-in-the-usa.html;_ylc=X3oDMTFpaTViZTJvBF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEX3MDOTc2MjA0NjUEc2VjA2ZwLXRvZGF5BHNsawNnb2luZy1zb2xv

You will understand when you see it. However, I didn't really see anywhere that I would truly desire to live, so don't expect me to up and leave for there anytime soon...

Bailout. Part 3.

Seriously? The Senate passed it? Wow. Dumb.

Interesting items you'll find in this bill as passed by the U.S. Senate this evening:

-Film and Television Productions (Sec. 502)
-Wooden Arrows designed for use by children (Sec. 503)
-6 page package of earmarks for litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez incident, Alaska (Sec. 504)
-Virgin Island and Puerto Rican Rum (Section 308)
-American Samoa (Sec. 309)
-Mine Rescue Teams (Sec. 310)
-Mine Safety Equipment (Sec. 311)
-Domestic Production Activities in Puerto Rico (Sec. 312)
-Indian Tribes (Sec. 314, 315)
-Railroads (Sec. 316)
-Auto Racing Tracks (317)
-Wool Research (Sec. 325)

Just remember, this bill started as 3 pages. It passed the Senate at 451 pages.

Do we really need earmarks on kids toys and rum?

This is pathetic. What's even more pathetic is that people think this is a good thing. Do your research people, the government is bailing out PUBLIC companies not the American public.

Contact your House Rep. and your Senators - tell them how you really feel!

Bailout. Part 2.

After reading this: http://www.kiplinger.com/businessresource/forecast/archive/Ten_Things_That_Will_Be_Different_When_the_Financial_Smoke_Clears_080926.html

I felt this:

DUH.

Did anyone else see this coming? Wasn't the up-swing in the stock market a little too fast? I mean, the DOW has gained at an enormously quick pace, didn't you think eventually things were going to have to even out?

The American public has placed far too much trust in the government and now look. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were partially owned by the government prior to their "takeover" by the government, AIG also needed bailed out, and Lehman Bros. declared bankruptcy, etc. in just the past month or so. Has anyone else noticed that whatever the federal government gets their hands on gets screwed up? Come on people, think it through.

After the smoke has cleared, the dollar's international value will rise, people who actually deserve loans - and have the credit and cash value to pay for it - will receive them, and there won't be so many people making 40,000$ a year living in 300,000$ homes. We as Americans will be required to live by our means, not on the credit and backs of others.

Amazing.

Bailout.

So what's the big deal here? So the House of Rep. voted against a bill that's going to bail out millionaires? I'm not a millionaire, are you? Secretary Paulson wants to take 700 billions dollars from OUR pockets and tax dollars and place them in the hands of millionaires who have already fucked up their own money. Hmmm.... Where is the thought process?
And really, where is the economic crisis? In the past month I have made more money - percentage wise - than I have in a long time. To me that means that someone (hello federal government!!) is over-reacting because I'm in one of the very first businesses that people cut back on when they're short on money. The general public cuts back on vacations, on trips, on eating out, on special occasions, on date nights, etc. when they're short on money. To me, this means that the people who are actually hurting are the people who can afford to hurt a bit - not the everyday people walking down the street.
So to all you millionaires who are worried that you're not going to be able to buy your new yacht/vacation home/rolls royce - OOPS. Eat a PB&J - you'll feel better.
